If you live in California and need to reactivate an unemployment claim you can do so on the web using many easy options provided to you by the California EDD department. Anyone who had an existing unemployment claim but went back to work and then was again laid off can file to reactivate unemployment benefits. The system you use to reactivate unemployment benefits in California is called eApply4UI. This is the web version of the California unemployment system used to enter and process new claims. You can access eApply4UI at http://www.edd.ca.gov/unemployment/filing_a_claim.htm where you just need to enter answers to the questions posed to you by the online tool. Filing online is the fastest way to get your claim reactivated. Alternately if you don’t have access to the web or just prefer to work via phone you can call the EDD to speak with an unemployment rep who can help process your claim.
The individual files a claim for UI benefits using one of the following methods:
The application can be completed online and printed, or it can be printed and completed by hand. The application can then be faxed or mailed to an EDD office for processing. Call 1-866-333-4606 to reactivate unemployment online.
